Friday, 7:50. Two lanes are a bachelor party of eight who booked by the lane. Four lanes are corporate, booked by the person, twelve people, one invoice. The last lane is a couple who walked in and want the hour. The coach on duty is looking for the waiver of the man who says he signed last week.
Axe throwing booking software has a small job to do and gets it wrong in the same few places: pricing a lane when some groups pay by the lane and others by the head, collecting a waiver from every thrower, keeping minors and adults straight, and not selling a lane that is booked by a league. VenueChief books each lane online, prices it the way you sell it, collects the waiver before arrival and checks eligibility at the door.
Booking plan from $279 a month, published. Six lanes and a party room is seven bookable units and costs $363.
Price the lane the way you sell it
Some venues charge by the lane for an hour. Some charge by the person. Many charge a lane price that includes up to a number of people with a fee for each extra. VenueChief supports all of those on the same lane: per hour, per person, per person per hour, per booking, a base price with extra-person charges, or by length.
Layer rules on top: member rates, peak evenings, weekends, time of day and seasons, each with a priority, so "member, Thursday league night" lands on the price you meant. The What will this cost? preview shows the price for any day, time and customer before a guest sees it. A lane with no price cannot be booked online by accident.
Each lane has its own minimum and maximum group size. A lane built for six will not accept a booking for twelve, and the guest is told to choose a second lane or a different time.
Waivers and age rules before the axes come out
Every thrower signs. The booking confirmation carries a signing link the organizer can forward, and with per-participant links turned on, each guest gets their own. You can ask for waivers at booking, at the kiosk, from a phone or at the desk. At check-in, the list shows who has signed and who has not, so the coach is not guessing.
Age is the part owners care about most. An eligibility profile sets a minimum age, and whether an adult must supervise, for a lane type. Attach it to your lanes and the check runs when the group checks in. If a younger guest is allowed with a parent, a guardian signs for them, with no account, and you choose how much guardian involvement you want, up to the guardian being present at check-in.
You choose the numbers. Your insurer and local rules decide what they should be, and VenueChief enforces what you enter. VenueChief does not check ID for alcohol service.
Send us your lane prices and group rules and we will build them live.
Groups, parties and corporate nights
Group bookings are most of an axe venue's calendar. Put a party room and its package next to the lanes and a guest can book both in one basket with one payment. A package can bundle lanes, a room and a food credit, with a deposit and the waiver it requires. For a larger company event, staff make a private event in one screen: the organizer gets one bill and a link to pay the balance, or each guest pays their own ticket when they join from a link and signs their waiver there.
League night? Hold the lanes you need for the window. The hold can stop online booking, counter walk-ins or both, and a held lane does not need to appear on your website.
If you run escape rooms, VR or a bar next door, see our page on escape room booking software for venues with more than rooms. The calendar is the same.
At the counter
On the Platform plan, walk-ins and the counter use the same checkout as online bookings, and kiosks let a guest check in by booking code, email or phone number, sign and pay. Gift cards sell online and can go in the same basket as a lane.
A Friday, start to finish
At 5:00 the manager checks the board. Four lanes are held for the 8:00 corporate group, so nobody can book them online or at the counter. The bachelor party's eight waivers show as six signed. By 7:50 it is eight. The couple who walked in take the last lane, which was free because the previous group's 15-minute buffer ended at 7:45.
What VenueChief does not do for axe throwing
- No scoring or league software. VenueChief does not run throwing scores, brackets or standings for axe throwing. League standings in VenueChief are for karting laps. You can sell and hold lanes for a league night; the scoring happens elsewhere.
- No ID check for alcohol. Age rules are for the activity. Serving alcohol is on your staff.
- No automated abandoned-booking recovery. An unpaid online checkout whose hold expires is kept as a record, with the guest's email if they gave one. We do not send a recovery message automatically today.
- No custom booking questions. The checkout has a free-text special requests box. It does not ask for each thrower's name or skill level as a separate field.
- No listing on Reserve with Google or on marketplaces.
- No lane-by-lane staff coaching assignment out of the box. With the Workforce add-on, an activity can require a staff role and online booking will only offer times when a qualified person is on a published shift, but there is no per-lane coach assignment screen.
- Online booking lengths are 1, 1.5, 2, 3 and 4 hours.
