If you run karts, you cannot buy the advertised plan.

The best-known karting platform publishes two tiers. Neither of them includes race timing. Timing sits in a third, quote-only tier, along with ranking, scoreboards and multi-location pricing. Every comparison article quoting that headline price is describing a product a karting operator cannot actually use.

What quote-only costs you

  • You cannot compare on price without three sales calls
  • You cannot budget before you have committed time
  • The number you were quoted is not the number the operator down the road was quoted
  • Race timing: the reason you called, is the thing behind the wall

What we do instead

  • The full rate card is on this website
  • Timing is in the karting pack, not a tier above it
  • Fleet-size bands, so you know your price from your kart count
  • A twenty-four kart track with simulators and a kitchen is about $2,053 a month, and you can check that yourself

Timing

Your internet will drop. The session should not.

VenueChief reads MyLaps X2 natively, through the official vendor SDK, not a screen scrape and not a text-file watcher. An on-premise appliance sits between your decoder and the cloud.

  • Every passing is buffered during an outage and drained in order when the link returns. The race does not stop because the ISP did.
  • Transponders are backward compatible across generations, and your loops and decoder stay in the ground. Changing management software is a software decision.
  • A legacy MyLaps/AMB text protocol is supported for older installations.
  • No hardware at all? There is a manual mode that runs the full heat, results and championship pipeline without a decoder, useful for a new track waiting on install.
Be careful here, and we will be too. MyLaps X2 is the timing system we support natively. If you run Orbits, SMS-Timing, Apex Timing, RFID, infrared or video timing, we are not your platform today. That is a short conversation and we would rather have it first.

Race operations

The parts that go wrong on a busy Saturday.

Heat generation

A season, previewed before it is written

Generate heats from recurring templates across weeks at a time, and see it slot by slot first, with a plain reason for anything that could not be placed. Nothing is committed until you accept it.

Race control

Two operators, no collisions

Multiple staff in race control at once, with presence, conflict detection and a durable audit of every command issued. Flags and incidents are logged against the heat, not remembered.

Eligibility

Rules enforced, not posted on a wall

Kart classes carry real age, height, weight and license rules, checked server-side at check-in, so an eleven-year-old cannot be seated in an adult kart because the queue was long.

Fleet

Charge and cooldown, modeled

Electric fleet state is part of the schedule rather than a guess. Turnaround is planned, and a kart that needs to come off the track can be taken out of rotation without unpicking the heat.

Championships

Five scoring systems, deterministic ties

Drop rounds, bonuses and tie-breaks that resolve the same way every time, so the standing you publish on Thursday is the standing that survives the argument on Friday.

Leagues

Reserved time that releases itself

A league round reserves its track window everywhere at once, booking site, kiosk, phone, and unsold time returns to retail at a cutoff you set, instead of sitting empty.

The rest of the business

A timing system is not a venue management system.

Most karting software is a timing product with a booking screen attached. The revenue that actually decides your year, parties, corporate days, food, memberships, retail, is usually somebody else’s system.

What comes with it

  • Your website and booking flow, built with an AI page builder that already knows your brand, instead of an agency retainer.
  • Self-service kiosks that take payment, capture the waiver and create the booking, so a walk-up guest is racing without reaching the counter.
  • Party and corporate packages with included guests, per-head pricing above that, awards, certificates and a live guide telling each guest where to be next.
  • Food and drink on the same tab as the race, one basket, one close, one revenue number.
  • Memberships, gift cards and prepaid passes with a real balance ledger, redeemable online, at the kiosk and at the counter.
  • One inbox for email, SMS, WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram and web chat, attached to the guest, not the channel.

And the reason they come back

A first-time karting guest is easy to sell and easy to lose. VenueChief tracks personal bests, streaks and achievements, rates drivers on pace and consistency, and flags the regular who has quietly stopped coming, so your marketing has somewhere to aim.

Walk-ins keep their lap times. A guest who never made an account still gets a claim link that backfills their history. The first visit stops being disposable.

Straight answers

What karting operators ask us first.

Do we have to change our timing hardware?

Not if you run MyLaps X2. That is a native integration on the official vendor SDK, and your transponders, loops and decoder stay exactly where they are. MyLaps themselves publish that they do not make rental-kart software and list the platforms compatible with their system, so changing management software is a software-only decision. You can verify that on their website rather than taking our word for it.

What if we do not run MyLaps?

Then we are probably not your platform today, and we will say so on the first call. There is no support for Orbits, SMS-Timing, Apex Timing, AMB TranX, RFID, infrared or video timing. We do support a legacy MyLaps/AMB text protocol and a fully manual mode, which covers older installs and new tracks waiting on hardware.

What does it actually cost for a karting venue?

The platform is $579 a month, and the karting pack is priced in fleet bands: $729 up to fifteen karts, $999 for sixteen to thirty, $1,299 for thirty-one to fifty. A twenty-four kart track with six simulators and a kitchen comes to about $2,053. The full rate card is published, including every add-on.

Can it handle leagues and championships, not just arrive-and-drive?

Yes. Series with rounds, five scoring systems, drop rounds, bonuses and deterministic tie-breaks, plus reserved track windows that release unsold time back to retail. Sanctioned competition, regulations, license verification, tech inspections and bring-your-own equipment, is a separate add-on for venues that run beyond casual leagues.

Can you run our emergency stop?

We will not claim that. VenueChief announces an emergency stop on every screen and audits it fully, and vendor hardware for flags, speed limiting and battery telemetry is integrated, but that hardware works with the server on your venue LAN, because the cloud link carries timing only. Anything that stops a kart is your track’s safety system, not our software.

We run karts and simulators. Is that two systems?

No, and that is the reason most multi-activity venues call us. Karts, simulators, party rooms and the kitchen share one schedule, one cart, one customer record and one daily close. More on multi-activity venues.

See it on your track

Bring your Saturday heat sheet. We’ll run it.

Give us your kart classes, your league format and your busiest hour. We will generate the heats, run race control and publish the standings, with your numbers, in a tenant branded to you.

Thirty minutes. No slide deck.
